The Days of Vengeance

Jeremiah 50:29-32 Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel. Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD. Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee. And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

Sounds like Babylon is in trouble! Let’s ask some questions here… First of all, who or where is Babylon? Why is the face of God against Babylon? What the “day” that the prophet Jeremiah is speaking of here?

If we look in the book of Genesis, we can find the story of the tower of Babel. Here is what the people of Babel did:

Genesis 11:4-9 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

So, God did them a favor by scattering them throughout the earth. This caused them to develop different languages so that they could no longer work together to devise evil. In essence, He named the place “Babel” because they were “confounded” or ‘confused’ as they could no longer communicate with each other. Guess where ancient Babylon came from? – You guessed it, Babel! It is believed that the building of the tower of Babel was inspired by worship of the false god called Marduk, the patron god of Babylon.

Metaphorically speaking, it is known among many who study the bible, that prophesies involving “Babylon” or “Babylonia” in the Holy Bible is often referring to a place riddled with confusion. An evil place, that God despises the works of. Why? Because confusion can also provide a foothold for error through the deception which leads people away from the Truth that they might otherwise be saved!

Where does this deception come from? satan…

1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Why does the devil want to confuse and thereby deceive people? Pride –

Isaiah 14:12-14 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

James 3:14-17 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

It’s true that Babylon is full of confusion, wicked, and ungodly. But what is the sin that she is most guilty of? Pride. What is the most prevailing sign of her loftiness? Hypocrisy. And – not just any hypocrisy, but the worst kind of hypocrisy: iniquity.

Revelation 14:8-11 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Fornication? Yes, this is her hypocrisy. She claims to be a nation that serves Jesus Christ, but in reality the majority serves not only “every wind of doctrine”, but also their own bellies before they would ever acknowledge Our Lord and Savior! Don’t believe me? Watch as we continue to get near the end. Jesus even prophesied that the love of many will wax cold. Why?

Matthew 24:10-13 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Here’s the question that we still have not answered completely: where is Babylon? Well, where can you find a nation that claims to be saved by Jesus Christ, but the various people within embrace and practice not only nearly every religion on the face of this earth, but also nearly every teaching (as we know) that claims to lead an individual to salvation by faith in Jesus Christ? Where is it? Who are they? …America(ns)!!!

Are they proud? Other nations consider us the richest nation on the face of earth. Our populous has more discretionary income that any other. If they cannot afford it, the majority will get it through deception.

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Many Americans are self-entitled, boastful, self-centered, indulgent, and ruthless when it comes to having things their way. Lying, cheating, and stealing are often viewed as necessary means to attain what a person wants, with no regard to whether it is right or wrong.

Not only do they sometimes call good evil, and evil good. Some will acknowledge evil as the okay thing to do! All while they are doing these things, a good portion of these same people will declare how they believe that they are “saved” by Jesus!

But what does God’s Word tell us?

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Friends, it was said recently in one of our podcasts that we are witnessing the beginning of sorrows and that this means that the true sorrows that this world has never experienced are about o be upon us shortly. I believe that part of this is the “days of vengeance” spoken of by The Lord. You just saw a glimpse, (via scripture) of what is in store for Babylon, but the entire earth will experience these days…

Luke 21:17-28 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls. And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Who’s vengeance is it that this world will experience?

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Will His people still be on earth? I am led to believe that we will not be here. However, if some are:

Revelation 7:2-3 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and He cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Earlier, in scripture, the mark of the beast was mentioned. Why do you suppose some might accept the mark of the beast? It may be that some accept it to get what they want; so that they do not have to do without? No doubt, that some will also accept the mark of the beast because of fear.

Recall where we just read in Luke: that The Lord said men’s hearts will fail them because of things that will come upon this earth in the end times?

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Luke 12:4-5 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear Him, which after He hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear Him.

Good news!

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Some her have heard the Truth of The Gospel of Christ, in depth, for most of their lives. Some may have just recently been gathered into the fold. Either way, the message here Folks is quite simple: get full of the Word of God! BUT – do not deceive yourself! It’s not the hearers who are justified, but the doers. (Romans 2:13)

Time is running out! It’s time to get serious, if you are not already, and even if you are:

Romans 13:11-14 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall

Revelation 2:25-29 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

What would Jesus do? My friend, you will never know if you are not willing to open His book and learn to keep His Ways.

Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Remember, tomorrow never comes. Do what you need to do today.

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Luke 12:26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
